"An artist, one hundred percent!", Maria Luisa Anido exclaimed, one of the most famous guitarists in the 20th century, when she first heard the young artist in 1990. In the same year, she released her first CD and won eight international prizes as a student. By the way, she completed her studies in mathematics at the Autonomous University of Madrid. In 1994 she began an international career when she won the most important competition for solo guitar: the first prize of the "Guitar Foundation of America".
Margarita Escarpa is a professor at the Conservatoire de Música de Vigo (Spain) and much in demand as a soloist throughout the world. In addition to numerous internatonal reviews, the Rotenburger Kreiszeitung 2012 also wrote: "Like pearls on a chain, the clear, pure tones flowed in incredible virtuosity in contrast to the full temperamental chords of the six string instruments ... Margarita Escarpa enchants with masterly sounds ... ". Yes, she is a passionate virtuoso on stage and a consistent, but sensitive teacher in the classroom and therefore for the first time at the Rotenburger Guitar Week.
